by.U is a new all-digital experience by Telkomsel, the largest cellular telecommunication carrier in Indonesia.
This new, personalised digital platform empowers customers to take control of their telecom services. Aleph and by.U teamed up to raise the standard for a self-service telecom experience and drive acquisition across cities.
Together with key stakeholders, we worked with the by.U project team to conduct a bespoke, human-centred design thinking workshop in the Telkomsel office. In the workshop, we analysed the landscape competitors of by.U and presented the best UX practices across telco institutions. This collaborative workshop also allowed us to capture innovative ideas that would shape designs of the app.
To enhance the product experience, we applied agile methodology across design system establishment, front-end development, and microservices integration.
With Indonesia’s multicultural heritage and many local native languages, we were able to bring in the idea of community and a localised data package to deliver a curated local experience.
Built on the foundations of Plan, we shaped by.U to offer a mix-and-match package combo, where users have the freedom to customise their mobile plan based on their data needs.
Beyond the app, we also brought innovative into by.U, with in-app streaming and more for users to enjoy a delightful experience alongside other Telkomsel over-the-top media services.
We built the by.U app and website using a consistent design system and component library spanning both platforms.
